  • What is an IR-5 Parent Visa?

The IR-5 parent visa is an immigrant visa for the foreign parents of certain U.S. citizens. The "IR" stands for "immediate relative". The IR-5 visa comes with a permanent resident card (green card), which allows the parent to work in the U.S. and also exit and re-enter the U.S. without the need for additional visas. The U.S. citizen petitioner must be at least 21 years old to petition.
